Fiets Chic and the cycle of life and growth
It's been a little while since I posted on my blog page, actually lot longer than I would have liked, and I apologize for that.
But the really good news is I've been already quite busy the last month or two gearing up to carry forward some original plans I put on the table last summer, but had to delay the execution because of other external factors that arose at the time.
In fact, some of you, who noticed the spurts of old material recycled through in a single evening or two on days past, and thought "what is he doing?" Just a little bit of 'in production testing' of some a new software tool I wrote from scratch, which I'm using to better help me manage my digital content and distribution.
This new tool actually solves (or should solve) a couple of logistical & technical barriers I ran up against last summer almost immediately when I wanted to branch out to more social media channels - one for each city in the Randstad (The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utrecht), across multiple social media channels of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr and possibly more in the future. Now I can schedule photos for 4 channels or scale that up to 400 channels easily and effectively without any additional cost overheads. YAY!
And beginning this past weekend - especially for those who didn't notice - this brings a new change to Fiets Chic.
For Haagse Fiets Chic - nothing here changes. 3 photos a day, as you've come to expect and love. And for those that were already following - daily photos from Amsterdam Fiets Chic, Rotterdam Fiets Chic, and Utrecht Fiets Chic have returned and will stay steady now. :)
What does change:
What does change is the addition of @FietsChic - specifically a consolidated daily feed featuring material from each city(That's a MINIMUM of 4 photos a day, one from each city on a single feed) over on @FietsChic. (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Instagram... your choice). Further, I plan to continue to throw any photos from towns outside of these four cities, in @FietsChic so that it will also have it's own mix of fresh and recycled content from all other channels.
The reason I've wanted to do this, is because I've had it suggested over the last 3 years, to 'replay' or 'recycle' former material I've already posted. I do also personally like the #Throw Back Thursdays but have been reluctant to do so because I like keeping the gallery 'fresh' - not a collection of recycled material.
For now, that's what I've decided to do with @FietsChic - make it a central place single feed you can see material from ALL cities in the Randstand. The freshest material will continue to be directly from each city feed, but all material from each city will eventually (with enough time) feed through @FietsChic.
So, in summary:
- If you'd like to see all content from all cities in the Netherlands and not be subscribed / following more than one page to get that content, @FietsChic is for you.
- If you'd like to see just the freshest content from one or two cities, then subscribe to the city feed. Or if 4 photos a day isn't enough for you - feel free and please do - subscribe to them all!
I hope everyone continues to enjoy @(Amsterdam/Haagse/Rotterdam/Utrecht)FietsChic as much as I have. I'm really looking forward to another three years. :)
